An interview with RRD rider Kari Schibevaag

An interview with Kari Schibevaag, Scandinavian RRD team rider &  Bikini Tribe ambassador.

Every year, we invite riders and ambassadors to Keros to share our beautiful spot, meet RRD team riders and other fascinating individuals, and spread the good vibes around the world.

This year, based on a recommendation from RRD, we are thrilled to welcome Kari Schibevaag, a true adventurer, vagabond, and vibrant rider from Norway. As we explored her Instagram profile, we were captivated by the stunning scenery, positive energy, and inspiring attitude she exudes. It was an easy decision: Kari is joining us in Limnos this September as an ambassador for the Bikini Tribe Girls Only Surf sessions. Before you visit us and meet her in person, enjoy this warm-up interview!

Kari Schibevaag: The rush of riding the waves, the serenity of gliding on water, and the challenge of balancing and maneuvering create an exhilarating experience. Being surrounded by nature, feeling the sun and spray, and the camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts make it even more enjoyable. Watersports are a perfect blend of excitement, relaxation, and connection with the natural world.

SCK: How long have you been on the RRD team?

Kari Schibevaag: Wow, it must be over 10 years now. I stopped counting after a while, realizing it just makes me feel older!

SCK: What do you know about the Bikini Tribe Girls Camps?

Kari Schibevaag: I know it’s a lot of fun, full of action, set in a nice spot with good people. I’m excited to finally be part of it.

SCK: Do you think more and more women should learn how to surf?

Kari Schibevaag: Absolutely! It’s empowering, promotes fitness, and fosters a strong sense of community and connection with nature. Plus, you make amazing new friends. Surf’s up, ladies! ??‍♀️

SCK: What are the obstacles for women entering the world of watersports?

Kari Schibevaag: [No response provided; suggest to elaborate or skip.]

Kari Schibevaag: Just do it! It’s the best thing in the world to start with.

SCK: Do you practice any other watersports or extreme sports?

Kari Schibevaag: Yes, I also enjoy skiing, mountain biking, freediving, kiting in winter, and climbing mountains, though not too extreme.

SCK: Do you practice on land? Eg gym, pilates, cardio etc?

Kari Schibevaag: I do a bit, but not regularly. I should probably do more pilates.

SCK: Are there many female windsurfers/kitesurfers/wingfoilers in Norway and Scandinavia in general?

Kari Schibevaag: Yes, watersports are quite popular among women in Norway, and I love that.

SCK: Tell us about the scenery in Norway, and for how long you can practice watersports during the year.

Kari Schibevaag: We can do it all year round. You just need a good wetsuit, like the RRD winter one. Check out my Instagram account to see the Arctic fun.
