Care

Our Mission

As we enter the new decade, we realize more than ever the sustainability challenge our planet and our local communities face. Long past the days when riding the perfect wave or a dare-to-try kite loop were the only things that mattered.

Travelling around the globe and enjoying what planet Earth had over-generously offered, we simply felt that we have to give back by taking care of the amazing nature, culture and community that surrounds Keros.

It is a challenging task, with obstacles and failures. But we have decided to keep trying to move forward, no matter what. We are ready to commit to the extra effort and cost, in order to become greener and more sustainable.  We can’t change everything at once, but we can keep changing things step by step, day by day.  And that is our commitment for the next decade.

Our pledge for the next decade

We will try to reach and keep up with the standards that the EU Green deal set for the years to come.
We will respect and protect the ecosystem that we share and we will try to heal the unavoidable wounds that human interference causes.
We will keep caring even strongly for the people that live and share this environment. Our customers, our staff and the local community.
We will keep supporting gender equality with actions such as ‘Girls Camps’.
We will keep fighting social exclusion with actions such as Keros For All.
We will aid our employees with advanced skills and training, through programs such as the EU EASME Nautilus.
We will broaden and share our reach, values and benefits according to the EU standards for blue growth, as we did through EU EASME Meltemi project.

Our vision is to keep maturing as an attractive, environmentally ethical and responsible coastal tourism business unit with direct positive financial, social and environmental impact.
To make an impact, even a small one, on issues that really matter, like climate change and global warming.
To influence others and to generate awareness on the preservation of our seas and the aquaculture

MELTEMI

Surf Club Keros successfully initiated and completed the Meltemi project with exceptional results and deliverables. The Meltemi objectives were to cross-nationally blend watersports, tourism, hospitality services, culture, history and experiences between Greece and Turkey. The concept was to combine sailing holidays with watersports while visiting and experiencing all the above. During the 18-month period, we were able to map new, undiscovered spots for watersports, link them with cultural, gastronomical and historical experiences, while at the same time highlighting the difficulties and limitations of the project.
As a spin-off of the Meltemi project (completed end of 2019) we created ‘Riders Aboard’, a company offering kitesurfing and catamaran combo holidays in the Caribbean, Aegean, and the Maldives.

NAUTILUS

Surf Club Keros is proudly coordinator of the Nautilus program, a watersports employee training program funded by the EU. The program aims to develop an educational and certification scheme for employees in the blue growth tourism sector, creating high-end, well educated and trained employees, ready to serve in the tourism and hospitality industry. This is a 3-year research and training program that started in December 2019. Co-partners for this program is the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and TUV Austria.
