Volunteer at Surf Club Keros

About Surf Club Keros

Surf Club Keros, in Limnos Greece, started as a small school in 2008 and has now evolved into a watersports oriented Glamping resort in Greece, just a short walk away from one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing beaches in the world, in the heart of a Natura 2000 protected ecosystem.

Why volunteer with us

In 2022, people wanting to join us from all over the world for a sorted period of time created the idea of voluntary work during our summer operation. The first trial year was an amazing experience for our volunteers and for us, giving the opportunity to so many and different people to see our beautiful island and get to know Greek culture.

Besides that, it is a unique opportunity for advanced and beginner watersport enthusiasts to practice / learn the sports of kitesurf / windsurf / wingfoil / surf, but also travel around the island when there is an opportunity to participate in our trips https://www.surfclubkeros.com/experience/

Moreover, Limnos is a quiet and super safe island, a great place for nature lovers and solo travellers to come to a very welcoming, calm, and secure environment!

Structure

Operating in 2 main locations within close proximity, SCK consists of the:

Beach, which is located in the middle of Keros bay, a 3km protected shallow sandy bay with amazing turquoise waters and super safe conditions and there you can find our beach reception with the minishop, our school (kitesurf, windsurf, wingfoil departments) and our beach barand the: Camp, located 1 km above the beach, in a very calming area, where you’ll find our safari tents, reception, yoga deck, spa tent, and the restaurant area.

Company Ethics

Surf Club Keros’s goal has always been to care about environmental and social issues. Year by year, we try to become greener and more sustainable, we keep supporting gender equality, we fight social exclusion, we broaden and share our reach, values and benefits and we will keep caring even more strongly for the people that live and share this environment. Our customers, our staff, and the local community.

Getting here

Flights
The most popular way to reach Limnos is by airplane. You can get to Limnos airport (LXS) through Athens (ATH) or Thessaloniki (SKG).

The airport is 25 min drive from Surf Club Keros

Ferries
There are almost daily ferries connecting Limnos to the mainland.

The most frequent and useful routes are:

Kavala – Limnos  /  Kavala is a city in Northern Greece and is the best option if you are driving to Limnos from the Balkans or any European country or Turkey.(≈3.50 or 4.50 hours)
Lavrio – Limnos /  Lavrion is a port town about 1 hour from Athens airport.  It is useful if you are already in Athens with a car but it is a bit tricky to get from Athens airport.  Plus if you add up the cost, it is probably the same as flying from Athens to Limnos. (≈9 hours)

Thessaloniki – Limnos / Thessaloniki is the second biggest city after Athens. It is in the north of Greece and it has weekly routes directly to Limnos (ONLY every Saturday or Sunday) (≈5.30 hours)

When you arrive, we will organize a pick-up drive from either the airport or the port to our facilities.

Accommodation / Distances

Accommodation is offered near the village of Kalliopi, in 2-4 person safari tents.
Our new staff village, accommodating both volunteers and permanent staff, is at a distance of about 30 min walking or 10 min cycling, with a communal kitchen, laundry room, a chilling area, and every tent has its own bathroom.

A bicycle will be provided to the volunteers for their personal transportation.
Keep in mind that half of the distance is dirt road (since it is a protected natural ecosystem)

The package/what you get

Besides accommodation, we offer full board for the volunteers to our restaurant (3 meals), a 30% staff discount to everything our club offers (food, drinks, rentals, lessons, merch) in exchange of: 4 hours work/ 6 times per week
